In my newest poll I'm asking, "Which vampire cliches would you like to see laid to rest?" Every genre contains tried and tested plot devices and character types that become overused, but which ones would you enjoy seeing less of in vampire fiction, films, and TV shows? Are you tired of vampires with long, flowing hair who resemble Lucius Malfoy (see picture), or do the traditional vampire deterrents like garlic and crosses make you want to put a stake though a book? One person's vampire cliche can be another person's vampire treasure, so this poll is being done completely in the spirit of fun. As always, feel free to comment or mention a cliche that's not listed.

An interesting question!
I picked vampires with foreign accents.
It really annoys me to hear these silly accents and it makes the vamp sound so dumb!
You're not alone. When I investigated common vampire cliches online, I found that generic foreign accents came up pretty often.
Cookie-cutter "badasses" - who just happen to also be vampires.
Incidentally, Jason Isaacs would be a great Dracula.
Derek--Thanks for adding your least-favorite cliche. It's a good one.
Sloppy eaters. Think about it. Why would vampires necessarily spill their food all over the place?
The sloppy eaters comment is hilarious. You have a good point.
I think the biggest vampire cliche is the brooding, regretful vampire. From Barnabas Collins, to Angel, to Mick St.John, etc. etc. vampires are depicted as world-weary, angsty and broody. That's why I love Blood Ties so much. Henry Fitzroy is completely comfortable in his skin. He actually asked to be turned, and he's never regretted his decision!
That's an interesting twist with Henry Fitzroy. Does he feed on human blood?
I hate male vampires (or even female)that are described as irresistably sexy and alluring. I mean seriously, can't a butt-ugly person be turned into a vampire?
At Above: Check Out Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a ton of Butt Ugly Vamps in that :P
