Contest: Sophie Collins's HOW TO DATE A VAMPIRE

Octopus Books USA just released a book called HOW TO DATE A VAMPIRE by Sophie Collins...and they've offered a copy for me to give away! Here's some info from the book's press release:

If you’ve been jealous of Bella and Buffy, and the thought of New Moon has you hankering for a bad-boy date, help has arrived. A new book, HOW TO DATE A VAMPIRE (November 2009; $12.50) provides just the right amount of advice to help you land a fangsome fella. Author Sophie Collins shows you how to aim your sights at the night, in a handbook packed with quizzes, charts, and fail-safe guidance on how to show him what's so special about you and set his pulse (if he had one) racing! From "love at first bite" and clues on how to "date" your vamp (figuring out his actual age), plus where to draw the line with a boy who literally knows all about you, Sophie Collins has tips and tricks such as:

• Eat Meat! (after all, the guy has a major iron deficiency)
• Reading your vamp’s body language (hint: if he’s staring hard and his eyes have turned dark, you’ve crossed the line from love interest to entree, and it's time to go)
• Learn to tango—hot Latin dances have a powerful pull for vampires
• Great date ideas that don't involve going out for a Type-O milkshake.
• Discover how to see into the heart of a guy you can't see in the mirror.

CONTEST RULES:
1. U.S. and Canada entries only please.
2. To enter, in the comments section below, answer this question, "If you were to go out with a vampire, where would you take him or her for the first date?" An Italian restaurant with the smell of garlic in the air? A blood bank? Let your imagination run wild.
3. Deadline--I'll draw a winning name Friday, December 4. Good luck!

Good Question: Since we are only on a first date, an Italian Restaurant seems fitting. *garlic thing was a good idea*

I would take him to a blood bank, for sure. Better for him to dine there than on my neck!

Would have to be a Haunted House, that way I'm protected and I get to know if he senses anything!

A walk in the park. Muggers wont be bothering anyone that night!

Hmm.. I would take him to a bookstore with a coffee house attached. Books are something I'm passionate about, but even if he isn't, we could sit in the coffee shop and chat. It's quite, and a great place to get to know someone.

We would go a local Wal*Mart. There's plenty to see (have you been there late into the evening?) and there's plenty to eat .... for both of us!

Since all of my immediate family has passed away, I'd take him to the cemetery and get those introductions out of the way.

Hey, if you're going to date the undead...don't overlook the really dead : )

If I were to go out with a vampire, I would love for us to go to a carnival at night. We could have fun on the rides and he could win me that huge stuffed animal they always have with his superhuman vampire powers!

If I were to meet and go on a first date with a Vampire would have to be at night of course so in keeping with that would go to a Concert where there would be plenty of private shadowy alcoves for him to find time to snack and depending on the performer maybe do the mind control thing for me and get us backstage for meet and greet and photo op with the headliner. After the concert, we would go to an all night diner for me to get something to eat and have time to wind down and chat before the dawn came and date over...

I would take him to a bar like the one from True Blood. I'd get the beer and he'd get the bottle of beer.

I would take my vampire date to...my place. :-) Why prolong the good stuff?

I think to haunted houses because I think he may feel more at home there. I would also be less scared!

Who needs to go out when we can have a thriller ride driving a car at 100mph down the scenic route? He should have the killer reflexes and it'd definitely be fun to be scared out of my mind!

I would take a vampire out to Merlotte's in Louisiana so he could have a True Blood and I could have some of Lafayette's cooking. It would be a blast to meet the characters from Charlaine Harris' world!

Based on the belief that my vamp could fly this is what we would do:

Right at sundown he would arrive at my south Florida home and we would hit the sky. Flying high enough to avoid being seen but low enough to enjoy the scene. We would soar north as fast as possible over the beaches and skyscrapers. Then once he determined we had gone far enough we would land and rest, refuel and recharge. Somehow we would end up walking south along the beach while the water lapped at our feet and we learned all about each other. Then he would swoop me up and we would be airborne again. This time we would be flying low and over the ocean. Once we reached my home again he would leave me just inside my open door with a kiss on the cheek and the promise of another night flight.

We would most definitely hop on his motorcycle and ride up and down the Santa Clara boardwalk, then on to his lair nead Hudson's bluff, overlooking the point (a la Lost Boys!)

If I was to go out with a vampire on a first date I would take him out at night, of course, but we would visit all his favorite places. I would try talking to his friends or family first, without his knowing and try to make sure he won't know at all, a surprise. So, then we can spent all night doing what he likes the most and even if I don't like it, I would try to enjoy it, and maybe I would end up liking it too, who knows. BUT I WOULD DEFINETLY TAKE HIM TO ALL HIS FAVORITE PLACES, it would be really romantic and it would show him I really care about him.
