Happy Release Day to THE WOMAN IN BLACK

No vampires appear in The Woman in Black (at least not in the version I'm familiar withthe novel by Susan Hill), but the chilling ghost story was made specifically for those of us who enjoy a good jump-out-of-your-skin scare.

Here's the plotline of the movie adaptation, which opens today here in the U.S.:

Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), a widowed lawyer whose grief has put his career in jeopardy, is sent to a remote village to sort out the affairs of a recently deceased eccentric. But upon his arrival, it soon becomes clear that everyone in the town is keeping a deadly secret. Although the townspeople try to keep Kipps from learning their tragic history, he soon discovers that the house belonging to his client is haunted by the ghost of a woman who is determined to find someone and something she lost… and no one, not even the children, are safe from her vengeance.

And the trailer...

I'm hoping to talk my husband (who's not as much of a ghost movie fan as I am) into seeing the film with me. Otherwise, I'll be venturing into the theater on my own and watching for vengeful Victorian ghosts out of the corner of my eye.

Thanks, Lorelei!

You know, I think I've actually talked the husband into seeing it with me. He's an avid Potter fan, so having Daniel Radcliffe as the star definitely helped in my favor. We'll probably go next week.

I hope you get to see it, too!!!

The movie took second place at the box office this weekend. Those of us who didn't get to see it the first weekend will probably have a good chance of catching it in the coming weeks.

I saw it on Saturday and LOVED it. I recommend seeing it on the big screen if you can, especially to get the most chills out of the very final shot.
